A native of Catahoula, Thibodeaux graduated from St. Martinville Senior High School and shortly thereafter earned an Electro-Mechanical Technology Certificate from Teche Area Vocational Technical School in New Iberia. He worked as an electrician before receiving a Business Administration degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (formerly the University of Southwestern Louisiana). Following graduation from USL, Keith worked as an accountant for Delhomme Industries of New Iberia as well as purchasing agents with the Iberia Parish School Board prior to receiving his law degree from LSU’s Paul M. Hebert Law Center.
Thibodeaux began his legal career by serving as judicial clerk in Franklin for the late Honorable Judge Robert Fleming of the 16th Judicial District Court. He then entered into a private law practice with J. Burton Willis in St. Martinville practicing both criminal and civil law. After Willis’ passing, Thibodeaux continued his private law practice where he has served thousands of clients on a wide range of legal matters relating to family law, real estate, formation of business entities, business disputes, estate planning and successions, and public agency law. Many of these legal matters included litigation within state and federal district courts as well as appellate courts. Thibodeaux serves as attorney for the St. Martin Parish Clerk of Court, St. Martin Parish Assessor’s Office, and St. Martin Parish Waterworks Districts Number 3 and 4. In addition, Thibodeaux serves as attorney for a number of his clients’ businesses
He is an active member of the Kiwanis Club, where he’s helped with the Every Child a Swimmer program and served needy children at Christmas. He’s also a member of St. Martin Rotary Club, local Chambers of Commerce and an usher at St. Rita Catholic Church.
Thibodeaux married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie Laperouse, presently a retired educator and twenty-year cancer survivor. Thibodeaux and his wife, Bonnie, are the proud parents of four children as well as the grandparents of two beautiful grandchildren, all of whom live in South Louisiana.
